Time on the Water

When I'm not on the water guiding, I'm probably on the water with the Revenge Run crew or, if our days off haven't lined up, out on the water on a solo mission.  Most days I am fishing until it gets dark sometime around or after 9 pm.  That means I'm home most days close to 10 pm for a late dinner and a quick shower before heading straight to bed.

Early Season Fishing

I was only in Lake City for a few days at the end of May before making it back to Dallas for a wedding, but I made those days count by getting out on the water for all of them.

Amazing colors on this 'bow

I had a couple hogs on this gigantic streamer on around Lake City.  Somehow, all of them got away.  I included a smaller wooly bugger for comparison.

Floating the Gunnison

September was especially rainy in Lake City, and the constant rains often left the Lake Fork too murky to fish.  On this beautiful morning, we headed to the Gunnison River for clearer water.

I don't think I've ever seen the Lake Fork this murky before

Back in Dallas

After leaving for the mountains at the beginning of June, I didn't make it back to Dallas until late August for Matt and Jenni's engagement pool party and Matt's bachelor party.  I was disappointed to hear I was missing a mild summer by Texas standards.  I'm sure the next summer I'm in Dallas will have plenty of record-breaking heat.

The guests of honor asked that we play twiggy--a very sophisticated pool game--to keep everyone entertained.

From the reactions captured in this picture, I'm guessing someone (probably me) just belly flopped: great success!

Dakota was happy I was home to do some dog sitting.

I was having fly fishing withdrawals, but an evening catching bass on the fly held me over until I got back to Colorado.  Kevin caught the biggest of the trip with this monster at dusk.

Last Day Fishing Revenge Run

The last day the Revenge Run fly fishing crew had together for the summer was bittersweet.  The fishing was great, but it was sad knowing we wouldn't be out on our favorite stretch of river again until next summer.

Peter shows off a nice brown.  One of his earlier fish was so heavy it bent my net.

We weren't going to waste any daylight--which meant we were heading back to the truck after dark.
